Motorcycle accident fractured hand

Our client

Our client was a young accountant who was progressing well with his career with a large national firm. He used his motorcycle on a daily basis to travel to work in the city as it helped him to avoid morning and evening queues.

Accident circumstances

He was riding his motorcycle past a line of traffic, when, without looking, a car pulled out of the line and struck our client. The impact caused him to loose control of the motorcycle and collide with a parked car. Our client was forced over his handlebars and finally came to rest 15 metres further down the road.

Our client sustained a badly fractured hand, broken ribs, multiple lacerations and severe bruising. He was immediately taken to hospital where he remained for two nights. During this time, he underwent surgery to insert metalwork in his badly fractured hand.

As a result of his injuries, he was unable to work for six weeks and could not ride a motorcycle for nine months.

How we helped

Our investigation team began to work with the police to be able to interview the key witnesses to the accident. Our detailed evidence ensured that we quickly secured an admission of liability from the driver.

We provided immediate financial assistance to our client in the form of interim payments, and secured compensation for substantial loss of earnings.

Our rehabilitation teams undertook an immediate needs assessment to allow us to formulate and action a private medical and rehabilitation plan to ensure that our client’s recovery was professionally monitored and managed.

The situation today

Today, our client is back at work, and riding a motorcycle again. Our private rehabilitation has ensured that he has fully recovered from his injuries with no long-term affects.
